Purpose

The mission of Operation Christmas Child is to demonstrate God’s love in a tangible way to children in need around the world. Through this project, Samaritan’s Purse partners with the local church worldwide to share the Good News of Jesus Christ and make disciples of the nations.

The Greatest Journey

The Greatest Journey is a 12-lesson discipleship course designed for Operation Christmas Child shoebox recipients. Children who participate in the program learn how to follow Christ and share Him with others. As they do, entire families and communities are transformed by the power of the Gospel, and churches are started.

Pack A Shoebox

Now - November 20

The easiest way to participate is to fill a shoebox with toys, hygiene items, school supplies for children around the world as an expression of God's love, through the hands of local Christians, to share the Good News of Jesus Christ.

You can bring you filled shoebox with you on Sunday morning and drop it off in the Lobby.

We are funding and packing boxes together! Our Operation Christmas Child leads are purchasing the items - we need your help to pack them into the boxes. Any age is welcome. Register for an opportunity to work alongside others to pack up these gospel opportunities!

Collection Week

Help Collect!

First Church has been a regional and central drop-off site for the last several years, collecting around 2,000 boxes from our community and thousands more from other regional sites. We load the shoeboxes into cartons to eventually be sent all over the world. We collect all of those boxes during the National Collection Week. You can volunteer to work during our collection times.

Responsibilities Include:
  • Greeting and receiving boxes from groups and individuals.
  • Praying over the boxes that we receive.
  • Helping to pack them and get them ready to be shipped.
